WD starts shipping SATA-3 7200RPM 3.5" drives w/ a transfer rate of 6Gbps. So, the questions is "Can I use the new SATA-3 6 Gbps drives in my Drobo storage device? The ans is Yes. You can use the latest SATA drives in your Drobo storage device. However, the drives will auto-negotiate down to the 3 Gbps transfer rate. You will not see any performance increase with these drives in your Drobo storage device.
